I read Rolling Stone's 100 greatest guitarists and I noticed that all of them are lead guitarists. Bass players have a lot of skill, and there must be lots that are talented and deserve to be in the list. Are there any famous guitarists that played bass or did play bass in a band?
On one of Rainbow's albums,Ritchie Blackmore played bass on all but 3 tracks.
On Van Halen's 1998 album Van Halen 3,Eddie Van Halen played bass on most of the album.
Chris Dreja was the original rhythm guitar player for The Yardbirds before becoming the bass player.
